Some Sunrises

On my little car trip along the North Carolina coast this month, I arose early every day and went to the water to try to capture a nice sunrise.

I went to the beach, a riverbank, a waterfront park, traipsed over someone's front lawn and even shot from the highway on a travel day, looking for the magical shot.

Here are four of my best efforts, all shot at different locations.

My I-phone 8+ takes wonderful pictures, it's got a great camera--imagine, a camera that doubles as a phone and a handheld internet surfing device that sends sand receives texts too.

Drawing to a close

The year is drawing to a close and it's time for a review.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the year.

I really like the above photo of the shadows upon the wall of the lattice-work clear roof covering over the interior courtyard at the National Portrait Museum.  The photo below shows that I always look out for nice reflections.

Below is a reflection on the Vietnam Wall.  That's me reflecting on the tragedy.

I always love taking pictures of the Washington Monument juxtaposed against a dramatic sky.  These pictures are from the spring, using the new camera I received for my birthday.

I just like 'em

I take lots of pictures.

I carry my Sports Camera whenever I run.

Over the years I quite by accident occasionally get snapshots I like.

My car trips and running sometime take me past memorable sights.

Photos also can memorialize persons I know.

Or places.

Or effects.

I carry a camera wherever I go, especially on runs, and take lots of pictures.  And no, it's not an I-Phone, rather it's a rugged sports camera (that has lasted over 3 years despite two nasty spills and several drops) and here are the year's dozen or so more memorable snapshots.

I call this theme The Empty Chair and it's repeated during the noon hour at a particular lunch spot near where my three children grew up, on most holidays and birthdays.  This occasion was my middle child's 28th birthday.
